Story

Located deep within the Upper Assam Valley, Namsang tea estate is renowned for its lush natural surroundings and rich heritage. Established in 1837, Namsang is one of the oldest tea gardens in the region, painstakingly carved out of the dense tropical rainforest at the foothills of the eastern Himalayas.

Situated between the Jaypore Protected Biosphere and the Burhi Dehing river, the estate enjoys a picturesque and pristine location that contributes to its high-grown Orthodox teas' distinctive flavor and aroma. The approach to Namsang is a journey through a vibrant ecosystem where orchids bloom high in the treetops, and over 277 bird species fill the air with their song. Below, leopards, Hollock Gibbons, and elephants move stealthily through the underbrush, making Namsang a unique intersection of tea cultivation and wildlife.

Namsang’s slightly elevated location is ideal for producing top-quality teas, celebrated for their unique character. Acquired by Rossell Tea Company in 2012, the estate's rich history is marked by Section No. 1, where the first formal tea plantings in 1837 are still commemorated by a marble monument. Well, I am very sensitive to foods and this tea does not give me headaches or problems so I order it repeatedly and never tire of the taste or consistency.

I like to add milk so want a substantial leaf, large too. This was a good base tea and agreeable with others for a different taste as well as on its own.

Halmari hits you immediately as a great tea but it took some time to appreciate our second order, Namsang Summer black. Learning to improve preparation process to get the best of the flavour. This is also very good Assam tea. I really like the mentioning of Year to help us learn the importance of freshness. Great vacuum sealing.
