Goomtee Tea Estate, a living testament to history and craftsmanship, was founded in 1899 by the visionary British planter Henry Montgomery Lennox amidst the verdant hills of Darjeeling. From its inception, Goomtee has weathered transitions, passing through the stewardship of notable figures like G.W. O'Brien and eventually coming under the patronage of the esteemed Rana of Nepal post-World War II.

Nestled in the heart of the Kurseong subdivision, known fondly as the "Land of White Orchids," within the Darjeeling district, Goomtee sprawls across 225 hectares (560 acres) of pristine terrain. At elevations ranging from 3,000 to 5500 feet above sea level, the estate benefits from the cool mountain air and fertile soil, fostering optimal conditions for its tea bushes to flourish. It is within this picturesque landscape that Goomtee meticulously cultivates some of the most exquisite orthodox Darjeeling teas. By Chinary, we are referring to the tea plant - Camellia sinensis var. sinensis, from where the tea has been crafted.

Makes a cup with a sweet flowery aroma that is very refreshing. Liquor is on the lighter side, definitely not a strong tea.
The tea is a well balanced tea, but the flavours could be a little stronger, which would have made it the perfect cup.

i got to taste the tea from the free sample included in my purchase. The label read "Goomtee SPECIAL spring Darjeeling Chinary black"
After tasting it, i was convinced that the 'SPECIAL' labeling was indeed deserved.
As soon as the dry leaves are infused, it gives off a strong grassy aroma. As it infuses longer, pronounced floral notes greets the nose.
The Liquor is very smooth, with a very mild yet pleasing astringency. If infused for 3-4 mins, the liquor finishes dry. However, if infused for longer (5-7 min), a mild grassy sweetness is apparent.
Overall, an invigorating refreshing sensory experience..
