Perched in the scenic Kurseong valley at elevations between 4,500 and 5,200 feet, Giddapahar Tea Estate has been crafting exceptional teas since 1881. Tended by generations of the Shaw family, this historic garden—aptly named ‘Eagle’s Mountain’—is renowned for its traditional Chinary bushes and the nuanced cups they yield.

While rooted in legacy, Giddapahar has embraced thoughtful innovation, introducing select clonal cultivars to complement its heritage crop. Yet it’s the old-growth Chinary sections that continue to shape its most expressive autumn teas.

What is Autumn Flush?

The Autumn Flush is the final major harvest season in Darjeeling, occurring from mid-October to late November. It begins once the monsoon withdraws from the hills and temperatures start to drop, producing leaves with a distinct seasonal character.

How is Autumn Flush different from First and Second Flush teas?

Autumn teas are smoother and more rounded, without the bright astringency of First Flush or the muscatel sharpness of Second Flush. They lean toward fruity, nutty, and warm notes rather than floral or high-toned flavors.

What do you mean by Chinary Black Tea?

“Chinary” refers to the original China variety of the tea plant—Camellia sinensis var. sinensis. I love the taste of both Autumn chinary and Summer Giddapahar black teas.
It is sooo nice to be drinking real tea again.

Being a tea-lover I rely on black tea for their exotic taste each time. I've tired out so many different vendors but Teabox is different I must say. They delivers exactly the same as they promise unlike others.
When I pour the tea I prefer just to sit back and enjoy till the very last drop of it - nothing else! When I take the first sip, it comes with a refreshing punch and then with a nutty - fruity taste it leaves a mellow honey like sweetness in your mouth. You can't go wrong with this tea. Bummed it's currently sold out!

This was one of my most favorite teas in the black sampler box. Went to order it on its own but dang! It's sold out - so i guess others agreed too. Very good tea, more subtle and gentle than some of the other bold black teas in the sampler box, which i also loved, bc it's nice to have any array of go-to flavour styles. Hoping for more Giddapahar Autumn tea next year - i appreciate it's out tho bc you know you are getting everything fresh

This tea exhibits all characteristics of a wonderful Darjeeling Autumn tea. It is has a perfect flowery aroma, fruity flavor and strength. It goes well with a bit of sugar. A dash of milk brings out the flavor even better, but like most Darjeeling teas, don't add too much of it.

This was my first tea from teabox. It has really earthy and woody tone and goes well with honey. It gets bitter when infused for long so take care you prepare as recommended. Overall a fine tea.

Very nice fresh tea. Because of its freshness reminds me on green tea. I add lemon and brown sugar and it's great combo for me. You can drink it anytime you want.

An Incredible Offering

An excellent tea with a complex and delicious profile, full and rounded notes with underlying sensations of muscat grapes and tangy sweet nuances. A hint of blackberry and almond is present as well. It has a lasting and very soothing finish. The flavor is light and fresh, with notes of apricot and spice. Hints of tropical fruit and flowers accentuate a lingering aroma as it cools in the cup.

Eminently respectable, but not a drop-dead dazzler

A superbly balanced blend of sweetness and spiciness that yields a flavorful brew. It works for me as afternoon, evening, or dessert fare because it lacks a certain vigor I prefer for morning.

Almost exactly what I was looking for

The Giddapahar China Darjeeling is a very well balanced tea. It has a full bodied flavor without being overpowering or becoming bitter. My only complaint -- and I'm probably just being picky here -- is that when I steep the leaves for a second cup, the outcome is noticeably weaker than the first cup. Regardless, this is a wonderfully mellow black tea that I'll certainly order again.

Scrumptious!

A long-time aficionado of Giddapahar teas, I am not disappointed with this Autumn Flush. The leaves, once slightly awoken with sprinkles of water, reveal aromas of freshly baked butter biscuits and malted barley. The taste is powerful with a very sweet mid-palate. Aromas of hazelnut but also melon, mango, and butternut all blend well in this morning tea that has absolutely no astringency. The 2nd infusion reveals greener aromas reminiscent of courgette and sweet corn. Love it!
