Nestled amidst the breathtaking landscapes of the North Kurseong region in Darjeeling, Balasun tea estate sits gracefully at an elevation of approximately 4500 feet above sea level. Its rich heritage dates back to 1871 when it was founded by Devenport & Company Limited under the name Nahore Balasun tea estate.

Renamed after the Balason river that meanders through the verdant tea garden, Balasun became a part of the Darjeeling Consolidated Tea Company Limited in 1963, eventually transitioning to the management of Jay Shree Tea & Industries Ltd. in 2005.

The estate predominantly cultivates Chinary variety of tea bushes, complemented by approximately 10% clonal sections, resulting in a diverse range of teas. Situated amidst the scenic hills, Balasun benefits from an ideal combination of altitude, climate, and natural beauty, all contributing to its renowned tea production.
