The Lopchu tea estate, nestled in the picturesque hills of Darjeeling, holds a distinguished reputation in the realm of tea cultivation. Established in the early 1860s, its name "Lopchu" originates from the local Lepcha dialect prevalent during its founding.

Situated midway between the towns of Darjeeling and Kalimpong, the estate occupies the low-lying hilly slopes of northeastern Darjeeling, adjacent to the state of Sikkim. Spanning 226 acres and positioned approximately 4800 feet above sea level, it commands a breathtaking view of the majestic Kanchenjunga peak.

Flavorful!

I used to drink your basic orange pekoe tea, the one in bags. I thought I would try the Darjeeling Lopchu Orange Pekoe Black. I have enjoyed a few different Darjeeling teas and wondered how this one would be. There is no comparison. It is fresh, with the slight orange taste, much more flavorful than the standard bag ones from the grocery store.

My favorite tea

This tea is my favorite tea I have ever tried. It is a gentle tea, with none of the flavors clubbing you over the head. It is subtly smoky-ish, and smells and tastes like walking into an old bookstore with a creaky wooden floor. Not fruity or floral at all, which is OK w me. I would describe it as comfortable.
